How do you install a GK curtain moulding correctly?

How do you install a GK curtain moulding correctly?

Do you want to enhance the aesthetics of your room with elegant curtains or drapes? Even if you choose a stylish model, a curtain rod can hinder you from achieving the effect you dream of. It's a design element that shouldn't usually be noticed. Looking for a way to disguise a curtain rod or skirting board in your bedroom, living room or other room? Check out how to carry out the installation of a curtain moulding as a masking feature. You have several options to choose from.

Suspended plasterboard ceiling

One stylish and modern way to hide a curtain rail is to install plasterboard in the form of a suspended ceiling. This method will work wherever the room height is high enough. In addition, the plasterboard ceiling can be used as a light arrangement or to conceal ventilation elements. How do I do this?

Include a track recess in the ceiling design by shortening it by approximately 20-40 cm. When determining the exact dimensions of the recess, don't forget about radiators or window sills. If you don't, curtains or drapes hanging from the curtain rail will be unsightly and bend over protruding elements.

How do you enclose a plasterboard curtain rod in a simpler version?

A standard and uncomplicated solution is to install a simple cover. This will ensure that an unattractive design element does not attract attention. The masking plasterboard can also be painted in any colour to match the room design. It is best to opt for the same paint that was used on the ceiling. This will make the skirting board almost invisible.

How can you install a plasterboard?

  1. First measure the width of the wall behind the window and then determine the optimum height of the cover for the room. As a rule, it should cover the curtain rod but also the top of the curtains. However, if it reaches too low, it may prevent the window from opening to its full width.
  2. Cut the plasterboard to size using a special cutter for this type of material. You can also use a traditional sharp wallpaper cutter for this purpose.
  3. determine the target depth of the cavity. It is a good idea to have a pencil at hand with which to mark the desired location of the curtain rail and aluminium profile. Leave a few centimetres of space on one side of the rail. This will allow you to easily slide in the curtain rail's hooks or safety pins for hanging your curtains or drapes. Remember to also leave a few centimetres between the rail and the cover - this will make it easier to move them around.
  4. Fit the curtain rail and aluminium profile in the predetermined places. Use screws to fix the cover to the profile.
  5. To achieve the best decorative effect, paint the plasterboard cover in the same colour as the ceiling.

How do you build a curtain rod cover from plasterboard? Opt for additional decoration!

If you want to use plasterboard so that it enhances the aesthetics of the room, opt for stucco elements. This solution works well in both traditional and more modern interiors with different purposes. The stucco will not only cover the curtain rod, but will itself be a stylish decoration. How do you do it?

All you need to do is follow the instructions above and attach the decorative element to the installed plasterboard. Its finish depends on your taste and individual preference.

Covering a curtain rod with plasterboard is one of the most popular ways to hide a curtain rod attached to the ceiling. Importantly, it is a solution that you will implement without the need for professional help. The modules made of this material available on the market are characterised by a simple form, which goes well with minimalist decorations, for example.
