Pilaster - Head

A pilaster is an architectural element in the form of a flat projection from the face of a wall, having a head and shaft, often also a base and plinth, and fulfilling a decorative function.

The pilaster was already present in antiquity, where it corresponded to the columns of a particular architectural order. It also appears in modern architecture as an element of vertical division of the wall plane.
